Los Angeles Athletic Club

The Los Angeles Athletic Club (LAAC) is a private athletic and social club located in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1880, it has a long history of promoting physical fitness, amateur sports, and social camaraderie among its members.

As a designer at LAAC, I had the opportunity to work on their bi-monthly membership magazine, Mercury. I was responsible for the design and layout of the magazine, as well as working with contributing writers and freelance photographers to bring their stories to life. To pay homage to the club's rich history, I pulled the masthead for Mercury from their 1920s magazine and gave it a refreshed look while still tying it to its history.

In addition to Mercury, I also worked on the John R. Wooden Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding men's and women's college basketball players. Through my work on this project, I developed a deep appreciation for college basketball and the legacy of John Wooden, who was a member of the LAAC.
